What the font!?!
Staying top dog in the font management biz was getting tougher, with Linotype's free app and online store. Time for their own integrated font store. First came cool ideas, like collecting font purchases in groups rather than a single cart. Then came the social aspects. Finally, came the charming design. This was an wonderful opportunity for me to create useful features, functionality and design. Sadly, programming is still on “Budget Hiatus.” : (

Font Fusion Store Homepage A quick click brings up the store within the app. The user is initially presented with a Shopping Cart/Search column, a font promotions column and Social/Blogging column. Along the bottom was a cool idea, the ability to create multiple Type Drawer type collections for review and purchase.
Account LogIn Screen Users of course need the ability to log in and out, as well as sign up. Darkening the screen keeps users focused.
Typeface Search Results A search for Frutiger brings up a page of results. Users can see available formats, filetypes and a visual preview of the typeface. From here selections can be added to the shopping cart, buy it it now, add it to existing Type Drawer collections or create a new Type Drawer. You can also see that Type Drawers can be assigned unique names and colors, Job Names, Client Names and a description.
Type Drawer Viewing a Type Drawer Font Format Selection pop-in screen. Users can manage all details related to the Type Drawer from the screen. In addition you can see a price Subtotal, Budget Limit and whether the designer's selections are over budget.
Shopping Cart Now we're ready to buy some beautiful type. Still there is one last chance to preview the look of these typeface by hovering the mouse over the name to get a pop-in window with dynamic Typeface preview.
Best Practices Documentation Last but not least, without direction even the best design will go sour when handed over to the developers. A thorough Best Practices document was compiled to assist the programmers with the effort to make all the wonderful ideas and designs a reality.
